Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 14, 2026

This policy describes which data the iOS app ThumbSort processes when it is installed and used. ThumbSort is built so that as little as possible ever leaves your device.

No Tracking, No Advertising

ThumbSort contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, no advertising identifier (IDFA), and no usage tracking across apps or websites. No usage profiles are created, and no data is sold or passed on to advertising networks.

Photo Library

The core function (reviewing photos and videos, keeping or deleting them) requires access to your photo library. This access happens exclusively through Apple's PhotosKit framework, directly on your device. Photos and videos are never uploaded to any server operated by the app, and are never processed off the device – ThumbSort does not operate a server that receives media content. Thumbnails are held only locally, in the device's memory or cache.

Photo access can be restricted or revoked at any time in the iOS settings under Settings › ThumbSort › Photos.

Referral Program (iCloud / CloudKit)

Inviting friends uses Apple's CloudKit service. In doing so, an identifier is stored that is tied to your iCloud account but is pseudonymous and valid only for this app (no real name, no email address, no access to contacts). This identifier serves solely to recognise whether an invite code has already been redeemed, so that an Apple account receives the bonus only once. Apple is responsible for processing this data within the iCloud infrastructure; Apple's privacy policy applies in addition.

Purchases (StoreKit)

The ThumbSort Unlimited subscription is handled entirely through Apple's StoreKit. Payment data (credit card, Apple Account, and so on) is processed exclusively by Apple and is neither seen nor stored by ThumbSort. The app receives from Apple only the confirmation that a valid subscription exists.

Data Stored Locally

Settings, subscription status, and progress figures (for example how many photos have already been sorted) are stored locally on the device in the app's own UserDefaults. This data does not leave the device, except through the device's regular iCloud backup, over which ThumbSort has no influence.

Disclosure to Third Parties

No data is passed on to third parties, with the exception of the technically necessary processing by Apple within iCloud, CloudKit, and StoreKit, which is required to operate the app.

Your Rights

You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, and restriction of processing of your data. Since the referral identifier is stored on our side pseudonymously and without personal reference, erasure can be requested by contacting lorenzo.filoni@icloud.com.

Changes to This Policy

This policy will be updated whenever data processing in the app changes. The most recently published version applies.
